Background

I’m a (former) quant researcher currently on noncompete after leaving my previous firm. I spend most of my time reading AI papers and exploring small projects.

My background is mainly Stats/ML, but I had my first glimpse of transformers applied to NLP while doing an internship at Riot Games in 2020. Link to intern projects blog.

Since then I’ve followed AI advancements as closely as I can, watching LLMs quickly progress from conversational chatbots to doing arithmetic to surpassing humans at math and coding. It became pretty clear to me that this technology would transform the future of how most things are done, and so in January of 2026 I quit my fairly cushy quant job to be able to study it more and figure out where I’ll want to be.
